The International School Rheintal (ISR) is pleased to announce the expansion of its Academic Scholarship Programme, furthering its commitment to providing academically talented local students with access to a high-quality international education. The expanded programme continues to offer both partial and full scholarships to students who would otherwise not have the financial means to access an international curriculum but would significantly benefit from it. Full and partial scholarships are available for local students for three years, from Grade 10 to Grade 12. The deadline to submit applications for the next school year is May 1, 2025.
The ISR Academic Scholarship Programme was first established in 2024 with an initial donation from the Hilti Family Foundation Liechtenstein. In addition to this, ISR received support from regional foundations and associations, as well as from the ISR community who participates in fundraising efforts. These collective contributions have enabled the programme to grow, expanding scholarship opportunities and making an international education more accessible to academically-minded students in the Alpenrheintal region. Regional supporters and donors are still being actively sought to further strengthen the scholarship initiative.
Heiner Graf, Chair of the ISR Board, and long-time Buchs resident, commented, ‘ISR offers the students the opportunity to learn in English from Grade 10 which is a great benefit to local students looking to pursue an international education. The IB curriculum offered opens doors to organisations and universities throughout the world. This is a great opportunity for young people in our region and it is a pleasure to be part of a school that lives its mission as responsibly engaged local and global citizens.’
Liz Free, CEO and Director of ISR, adds, ‘At ISR, we are committed to responsible global citizenship—both through our curriculum and our engagement with the local Alpenrheintal community. We recognise that there are talented, internationally-minded students in our region who would thrive in an IB environment but face financial constraints. By expanding the Academic Scholarship Programme, we are removing more financial barriers and ensuring that even more students have access to this exceptional educational experience. We are incredibly grateful to the ISR community and our donors for making this initiative possible.’
ISR is now accepting applications for the expanded Academic Scholarship Programme for the 2025-2026 academic year. Interested families can learn more about the application process and how to support the programme by visiting www.isr.ch/admissions/scholarship.
